The O-W Bruin Excellence Scholarship was established by proud Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School alumnus Benjamin Watson as a way to give back to the school and community that helped shape his journey.
This scholarship recognizes graduating Bruins who demonstrate determination, perseverance, character, and a commitment to building a brighter future. We believe that a student's potential should never be limited by their circumstances or defined solely by academic performance.

Scholarship Award
The O-W Bruin Excellence Scholarship was established to give back to Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School and support the next generation of Bruins as they pursue higher education.
This award recognizes students who demonstrate perseverance, character, determination, and a commitment to their future, regardless of their academic standing or personal circumstances.

Eligibility

School: Must be a graduating senior at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School

College Enrollment: Must be accepted in a accredited college or university for the Fall 2027 semester

Academic Requirement: No minimum GPA required.

Selection Considerations:: Applicants will be evaluated based on their determination, perseverance, character, personal reflection, and commitment to achieving their future goals.

How to Apply

Reflection: Submit a 1,000-word maximum essay OR a 3-minute maximum YouTube video.

Topic: Reflect on the quote, “Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking.” — J.C. Watts. Explain its meaning and connection to your life and future goals.

Documentation: Proof of college acceptance or enrollment for Fall 2027.

Submission: Complete all required application sections and upload supporting documents.
